This is the only buck Dad every harvested with a bow. Probably one of most favorite hunts. I think I was more excited than he was. Unfortunately it was the last bowhunt I ever had with my father. Thanks for the skills, knowledge and respect for the hunt you have left with me over the many years. I will always walk in your foot steps just like the first time you took me hunting. Thanks Dad.

This buck Clint shot on our first trip out to the North Slope. The first night we got there we went for a walk, mainly hunting for elk. This buck was out in a meadow drying his velvet out. I told Clint shoot that buck NOW! (I had already shot the buck below a few days earlier) Clint made a good shot and harvested his biggest buck with a bow.

I shot this buck in 2005 in the north hills. I was invited by a good friend of mine to hunt his property. I sat in a cedar tree about 10ft off the ground on a fence crossing. This buck came in and gave me a 10 yard shot, I knew he would see me draw, but I had to try. I drew back and he never saw my arrow coming, literally. When I found him he only had one eye, the other was gouged out and dried up like a raisin. Thanks for the great hunting times Phil!

2003, ended up in Spring Canyon again for the first time since I lost my best hunting buddy. Dad Had a heart attack in 2002 while we were hanging our tree stands, and we never made it out of the mountains that night. My hunting partner will truly be missed, but I know he is always by my side with bow in hand. This buck is a 4x3, I had sat in my tree stand in the pouring rain untill I was soaked. I headed out and on the way ran into this buck. After a short stalk I was able to take him at 40 yards. I was in Eastmans bowhunting journal for the third time with this buck.

In 2001 I took my first buck from a tree stand. We had scouted a water hole, that the deer were using regularly. This buck came in for a drink, and gave me a 20 yrd shot. We had to pack him uphill about a mile. Thanks to Quintin, Garret, and a pole, we made short work of it. I was featured in Eastmans Bowhunting Journal's successful archers section.
In 1999 I was blessed with the deer of a lifetime. I had seen this buck only a few times in the headlights while I was out scouting. We hunted the bucks home range for three days before it all came together. Dad pushed the deer to me, and I was fortunate to calm down and make the shot. This buck landed my ugly mug in the first issue of Eastmans Bowhunting Journal. He is a 6x7 33 inches wide, and gross scored 195 P&Y

In 1998 I decided I would hold out for something a little bigger than a 2 point. This buck we watched a few months before the season and knew exactly what he did every day. He would feed down a fence line every morning and every night. Opening morning Dad sat on the fence line and like clock work here he came, but unfortunately dad missed. Later in the hunt I had my chances too. All together we missed this buck seven times before dad made a push, and the deer walked by me giving me a good shot. He was my first deer over twenty inches with a bow

I shot this buck a few weeks before I got married to my lovely wife. I was told to shoot a deer, so I could help her with wedding plans. Steve went with me, and threw rocks at this deer to get him to run past me. It worked and I was able to get a arrow into this buck, and start planing my wedding
This buck I shot in 1996, from the roof of my truck. Clint was driving and the only way I could get a shot was to stand on the roof of my truck

This was the first buck I ever shot with a Bow. I shot him up Keg Hill while he was drinking from the creek.

The early years

I started bow hunting many years ago, in 1995 I shot my first buck, a small two point. The fire was now started within that still burns stronger than ever today. For a few years I shot at anything with antlers.
